Secondary specie- Bluegill, Northern Pike

Current TSI Goal:                 39.6 or less
Current TSI 2004:                  45.3
 Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: An elevated TP was observed during the winter of 2006.  Subsequently, the lake was re-sampled in 2007.  The surface sample remained higher than observed in 1990 and the bottom sample was similar to 1990 but reduced from 2006.  The 2006 sample appears to have been an anomaly.  The chlorides continue to increase in both the top and bottom samples.

 Management Strategy:

  • 1.        Start TSI Monitoring
  • 2.        Continue Yearly Overflights
  • 3.        Continue developing and implementing waste and storm water management.

Primary specie- Yellow Perch
Secondary specie- Largemouth Bass, Bluegill

Water Quality Assurance
Current TSI Goal:       43.9 or less
Current 2004 TSI:    40.26
Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: The OP remains stable and low.  The TP at the top remains stable; however, the conc. at the bottom is the highest ever recorded on the lake.  The top TP conc. slightly exceeds the phosphorus limit while the bottom TP exceeds by approx 6 times.  All other parameters remained fairly constant.

 Management Strategy:

  • 1.        Contact the Lake Association and provide them a copy of the data.
  • 2.        Conduct a TP profile in August 2006 and February 2007.

Clark Lake

Fisheries

Primary specie- Northern Pike, Walleye
Secondary specie- Bluegill, Black Crappie

Water Quality Assurance
Current TSI Goal:               44.1 or less
Current 2004 TSI:                44.2

Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: The 2006 TP and chloride concentration are similar to the concentrations historically observed.  The concentrations of TP are slightly greater than the phosphorus limit.

 Management Strategy:

  • 1.        Continue with the current vegetative management plan.
  • 2.        Continue the operation of the weir with an increased maintenance effort.

Crystal Lake

Fisheries

Primary specie- Northern Pike, Bluegills, Brown Bullheads

Water Quality Assurance
Current TSI Goal:                 Not Established
Current TSI 1997:                33.2

Winter Water Quality Summary
Synopsis: The total phosphorus concentration is slightly less than that observed in 1993.  The chloride concentration is approximately twice that observed in 1993.  The alkalinity has decreased from 80 in 1989 to 51 in 2006.

Management

  1. Continue current management strategies.
  2. Request that residents fertilize with lime yearly.

 Water Quality Assurance

Current TSI Goal:                 Not Established

Current 2004 TSI:                49.8

 Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: The TP conc. is slightly greater than that observed in 1997, but less than the concentration observed in 1993.  The 1993 TP conc. was due to the construction of the golf hole adjacent to the Douglas Lake.  Generally there has bee a steady increase in TP since 1990.  A similar trend was observed in the chloride concentration.

Management Strategy:

Continue the fish-rearing program and monitor the lake every two years.

Current TSI Goal:               None established

Current 2004 TSI:                42.8

Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: The TP concentration has decreased from its highest value in 1989. The lowest concentration observed was in 1992.  The concentration observed in 2006 was the second lowest concentration observed.  The chloride concentration was slightly greater than measured in 1992.  All other parameters remain stable.

Gladstone Lake

Fisheries

Primary specie- Northern Pike, Lm Bass

Secondary specie- Bluegills, Black Crappies

 Water Quality Assurance

Current TSI Goal:                 44.2 or less

Current 2004 TSI:                42.1

Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: The water quality remains stable and at the bottom sample 2006, slightly above the TP limit of 0.016. The chloride concentration is the highest observed in the history of the lake.  As year around living becomes more prevalent on the Lake, the chloride concentration will continue to rise.

 Management Strategy:

  • 1.        Implement the Sewer District’s Waste Water Management Strategies.
  • 2.        Reinstall and a 50-foot native buffer along the lake’s shoreline.

Current TSI Goal:               Not Established

Current TSI 1997:              35.8

Winter Water Quality Summary

Synopsis: Due to the drought, Guida Lake was frozen to the bottom.

Management Strategy:

  1. Continue the yearly overflights.
  2. Add and monitor a staff gauge to Guida Lake.
  3. Compare the obtained Guida Lake level data with the nearby monitoring well data.
  4. Determine if it possible to construct an algorithm that will predict groundwater elevation with the Guida.
